Bethlehem Residents Debate Over Proposed Wawa and Apartment Project
During a Bethlehem Township Planning Commission meeting, residents voiced their apprehensions about a proposed development at Easton Avenue and Farmersville Road.
The project includes a Wawa gas station and a three-story, 32-unit apartment building. Originally, the proposal had 60 apartments but was reduced after community feedback. The land is owned by George Paxos, with Summit Realty Advisors handling the Wawa portion. Due to zoning regulations, special approval is needed for the project's design. Residents are particularly concerned about traffic and stormwater management. However, Commissioners Chairman Les Walker remains optimistic about the development's potential benefits.
Fighting Opioid Overdoses: Bethlehem Health Bureau Distributes Naloxone Kits in Key Locations
Bethlehem Health Bureau has introduced an initiative to combat opioid overdoses in Northampton County by distributing free naloxone kits in key high-traffic locations. These include libraries, hospitals, and community centers, as announced in a recent release. Each kit contains naloxone nasal spray and clear instructions on its administration.
The program's objective is to enhance the accessibility of naloxone for individuals at risk of opioid overdose and for systems likely to come into contact with them. By strategically placing these kits in prominent community spots, the Bethlehem Health Bureau aims to contribute to overdose prevention efforts in the region.

In the heart of SouthSide Bethlehem, PA, the SteelStacksâą campus stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of arts and American history. Once the birthplace of steel that fortified iconic structures like the Chrysler Building, Madison Square Garden, and the Golden Gate Bridge, this former Bethlehem Steel plant now resonates with the sounds of concerts, comedy shows, cinema, and culinary events.
