Bethlehem Native Returns Home to Film Touching Christmas Story
Bethlehem native and seasoned Hollywood actor Daniel Roebuck has returned to his roots to embark on a heartwarming project, "Saint Nick of Bethlehem." The film, set to begin production in Bethlehem and other Lehigh Valley locations, was announced at a press conference at Hotel Bethlehem.
Roebuck, donning a Santa Claus outfit complete with a white beard, expressed his enthusiasm for creating a holiday movie that truly represents Bethlehem. This announcement comes in the wake of Hallmark Channel's "Miracle in Bethlehem, PA," which, despite its title, was filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, rather than in the Lehigh Valley.

"Saint Nick of Bethlehem" is a collaborative effort between Roebuck and Pennsylvania filmmaker Spencer Folmar. The story is inspired by Allen Smith, a man from Clearfield County who became a Santa Claus figure in his community after experiencing personal losses during the holiday season. Folmar and Roebuck aim to bring this touching real-life story to the screen, hoping to create a classic Christmas movie that families can enjoy every holiday season.
The film will feature various local landmarks, including Bethlehem's Main Street business district, Christkindlmarkt at SteelStacks, St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Fountain Hill, the Kiffle Kitchen Bakery in Bath, and the Star of Bethlehem. Hotel Bethlehem, a frequent location in Roebuck's productions, will also serve as a backdrop, particularly the 1741 on the Terrace Restaurant.

The Musikfest 2024 poster, created by Allentown artist Lauren Beck, was unveiled by ArtsQuest. The design, depicting a night sky with musical instrument constellations and an anthropomorphic moon, reflects the festival's vibrant night atmosphere. Beck, a resident artist at ArtsQuest’s Banana Factory, aimed to convey the transcendent experience of live music. The 2024 festival, celebrating 40 years since Musikfest's inception, will be held from August 2-11.
Mack Truck’s Final Offer Escalates Labor Dispute with UAW in Lehigh County
The labor dispute between Mack Trucks and UAW Local 677 has escalated with the company's “last, best and final offer,” ending negotiations. The union faces a crucial vote this Wednesday, with the ongoing strike since October 9 threatening workers' jobs and insurance benefits. The dispute, affecting workers in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida, began after a majority of union members rejected the company's initial proposal.
