Touchstone Theatre Lights Up Bethlehem with Holiday Follies and Cheer đźŽ
In the bustling heart of Bethlehem, the Touchstone Theatre stands as a beacon of artistic expression and community engagement. This holiday season, the theatre is set to captivate audiences with its 24th annual Christmas City Follies, a vibrant and heartwarming spectacle that has become a cherished tradition in the community.
Directed by artistic director Jp Jordan, this year's Follies promises a blend of music, humor, and whimsical performances. The show, running from December 1 to December 22, features an eclectic mix of acts, from penguins and panda bears to ukuleles and dancing shopping carts. It's a merry revue that encapsulates the spirit of the holidays and the creative essence of Touchstone Theatre.

But the Follies isn't the only holiday treat from Touchstone. The theatre is also participating in a live Advent calendar event, starting at 5:30 p.m. on December 1. This unique experience, held outside the 1810 Goundie House at 501 Main Street, brings a theatrical twist to the traditional Advent calendar. Each day, a different local restaurant, shop, or nonprofit will surprise and delight the audience with holiday treats and cheer.
Touchstone Theatre's commitment to the arts and the community is evident in these events. The theatre not only provides entertainment but also fosters a sense of togetherness and joy in Bethlehem. “Miracle of Christmas” Goes Global: Sight & Sound’s Holiday Spectacle Now Streaming Worldwide
Lancaster’s Sight & Sound Theatres, known for its immersive productions, is streaming "MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS" from December 1-3, 2023. This marks the first time the theater is offering a worldwide streaming option for its sold-out show, featuring over 50 professional actors, live animals, and elaborate 3-story sets. The streaming service, Sight & Sound TV, extends the theater's reach globally, making this beloved holiday tradition accessible to more families around the world.
Walnut Street Garage Debate: Updated Police Station or Mixed-Use Development?
The Bethlehem Parking Authority plans to replace the Walnut Street Garage with a smaller parking structure, retail spaces, and apartments. However, an alternative proposal by a local resident suggests building a new police station instead, arguing it would better serve the community. The police chief prefers upgrading the current headquarters, emphasizing the benefits of its integration with other city services. The decision, reflecting broader urban planning and community concerns, is yet to be finalized.
