The Bach Choir’s Annual Christmas Concert ✨
In the heart of Bethlehem, the First Presbyterian Church is set to host an extraordinary musical event that promises to captivate and uplift its audience. On December 10, 2023, at 4 pm, the church will be filled with the sounds of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat and Christen ätzet diesen Tag, BWV 63, as part of a special Christmas Concert. These compositions, both penned in 1723, are renowned for their devout and playful character, brimming with ebullient joy and rhapsodic melodies that have resonated through the centuries.
This year’s concert adds a fresh twist to the traditional carol singing, featuring a newly composed carol specifically for this event. This addition underscores the concert's commitment to both honoring musical heritage and embracing contemporary creativity. Attendees will have the opportunity to join in singing a mix of new and beloved carols, making the concert an interactive and communal experience.
The First Presbyterian Church's Christmas Concert is more than just a performance; it is a celebration of shared history and vibrant musical traditions. It offers a chance to dive into the heart of holiday tradition and experience the joy of the Christmas spirit through the universal language of music. Whether attending in person or joining via the livestream option, this event promises to be a highlight of Bethlehem’s holiday season, uniting the community in a joyful musical journey.

Bethlehem City Council to Review New Plans for Walnut Street Garage
The Bethlehem Parking Authority has proposed the demolition of the 47-year-old Walnut Street parking garage and the construction of a new, smaller deck with retail space and potential housing. The plan aims to revitalize the area and address past design issues. The project, which will reduce the number of parking spaces, faces zoning challenges and has raised concerns among local residents. The redevelopment is part of a broader effort to enhance the urban landscape of Bethlehem.
The Bethlehem City Council is set to review this proposal for the redevelopment of the Walnut Street parking garage this evening at Town Hall, 7pm.
