Sassy Massey’s Winter Wonderland: Joyful Giving and Merriment 🎁 ❄️

A festive spirit is set to envelop DeSales University's Billera Hall on December 10th, as the community comes together for the "Sassy Massey: Winter Wonderland Holiday Toy Drive." This free public event, running from 4 to 7 pm, is more than just a gathering; it's a mission to create pediatric cancer awareness and to bring ‘miles of smiles’ to children during their hospital stay.

Organized by the Sassy Massey Foundation, the event invites attendees to contribute to a noble cause by bringing a new, unwrapped, non-plush toy. These gifts, collected through an assembly line starting at 7 pm, will be distributed to children who could use a little extra cheer. The foundation's dedication to bringing happiness to children is evident in its carefully curated toy wish list, accessible at www.sassymassey.org.

Despite the rainy forecast, the event promises a magical indoor winter wonderland. Guests will be greeted by live reindeer courtesy of Spruce Run, adding a touch of enchantment to the evening. The festive atmosphere is further enhanced by the presence of Santa and Mrs. Claus, ensuring a memorable experience for all ages.

The event is a kaleidoscope of activities and entertainment. Children can indulge in face painting, Elsa’s Hair Braiding Station, and temporary tattoos. Storybook Party Princesses and Characters will bring beloved tales to life, while a hot cocoa and cookies station offers a sweet respite. The inflatable Santa Sleigh and Winter Playground provide a playful escape, and Candyland, sponsored by Josh Early Candies, is a treat for the senses.

The evening is not just about fun and games; it's a showcase of community spirit and generosity. The toy drive assembly line is a testament to the collective effort to make a difference. With a DJ and live performances setting the mood, the event is a blend of celebration and charity. All support is welcome!

Holiday Change: Unangst Tree Farms Shifts to Pre-Cut Trees

Christmas Tree GIF by Death Wish Coffee

Yes… pre-cut is still real Eddie!

Unangst Tree Farms has shifted from allowing customers to cut their own trees to selling pre-cut trees. This change is due to various challenges in tree cultivation, including seed shortages, diseases, and droughts. The farm, experiencing increased demand, plans to stay open until December 21, selling a stock of 7,000 trees. This situation is reflective of a wider trend in the Lehigh Valley, with other tree farms facing similar issues.

Major Investments Ahead for Three Bethlehem Companies

In Bethlehem, three businesses have been granted almost $400,000 in tax credits to support significant expansion and improvement projects.

United States Cold Storage LLC received the largest portion, $250,000, for its $80 million expansion project, which includes a substantial increase in storage capacity and the creation of new jobs. Roberts Oxygen Company Inc. was awarded $103,050 to enhance its distribution facility, and National Magnetics Group Inc. received $43,822 for expanding its production capabilities.

These credits, part of a state program to revitalize communities, will aid in job creation and enhance business services, reflecting a commitment to local economic growth.

Bethlehem Approves 8% Sewer Rate Hike for 2024

The Bethlehem City Council has voted to increase sewer rates by 8% in 2024, a move aimed at addressing the costs of maintaining and upgrading the city's aging sewer infrastructure. The decision, which will affect residential bills, has been met with concerns from senior citizens and discussions about future rate studies for equitable pricing.
