Bethlehem’s West Broad Street Set for $9.9M Makeover

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is embarking on a major overhaul of its West Broad Street, thanks to a substantial $9.9 million federal grant. This initiative, part of the city's Vision Zero and Broad Street Activation plans, aims to make the area safer and more accessible for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. The project will introduce protected bike lanes, enhanced crosswalks with increased signage, and curb extensions at wider lanes.

Mayor J. William Reynolds announced that most of the 1.5 miles of improvements, stretching from First Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue, are expected to be completed by 2025. The grant, part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, aligns with Bethlehem's goal of eliminating traffic deaths and severe injuries by 2030.

Hoagies for Heroes: WaWa’s Grand Bethlehem Debut

Bethlehem is set to welcome a new Wawa store at 770 Hellertown Road with a grand celebration. The opening, scheduled for 8 a.m. on Thursday, invites customers to join the festivities starting at 7:45 a.m. The first 100 customers will receive a special “Wawa Coffee, Hoagies & Kindness” T-shirt, and all visitors can enjoy complimentary coffee throughout the day.

The celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m., featuring Wawa’s mascot, Wally Goose. Highlighting the event is the “Hoagies for Heroes” competition, where Bethlehem police and firefighters will face off in a hoagie-building contest. Wawa will donate $1,000 to a charity chosen by each department.

Phoenix Tube’s Major Expansion & New Apartments Reshape Bethlehem

Phoenix Tube, a company specializing in stainless steel tubing, is embarking on a substantial expansion at its Bethlehem location, adding 69,108 square feet to its existing facility. This expansion reflects the company's growth and commitment to the region. In another development, the city's Southside is poised for a transformation with a proposed residential project at 1332-39 East Fourth Street.

This project, spearheaded by Greenway Park Associates, envisions a four-story building with a lower level, offering 69 apartments and 4,000 square feet of retail space. The development aims to enhance the urban fabric of Bethlehem, combining living spaces with commercial opportunities.
