A Brief Pause to Reflect and Rejuvenate 🍃💌

Dear Bethlehem Local Buzz Readers,

We hope this message finds you well. As we journey through the ever-evolving landscape of news and information, we've reached a point where reflection and reevaluation are necessary. It's with a mix of gratitude and contemplation that we announce a temporary pause in our newsletter publication, starting after today.

Over the past four months, our goal has been to bring you bite-sized, uplifting news from the Bethlehem area each weekday morning. We've strived to create a space that counters the often overwhelming negativity in the world, focusing on the positive and the impactful. However, with being a free “community news” newsletter, we've noticed a few challenges along the way. Some of these challenges include fewer readership referrals than anticipated, lack of business spotlight requests, and minimal feedback and engagement, leading us to question demand.

If you haven’t engaged with us yet, we want to hear from you! Your thoughts, feedback, and suggestions are crucial in shaping the future of our newsletter. If you've enjoyed our content and would like to see us return, please let us know in the survey at the bottom of today's newsletter.

Thank you for being a part of our journey so far. We're hopeful that this isn't a goodbye, but a short intermission in our ongoing quest to bring positivity and community news to your mornings. We look forward to potentially re-launching with renewed vigor and content that resonates even more with our Bethlehem community.

With appreciation and hope,

Ali & Rick Hoffman - Bethlehem Local Buzz Team 💌

Sarah's Smile: Seeking a Fur-ever Home for a Joyful Hound ❤️🐾

Meet Sarah, a 5-year-old, 52 lb hound mix with a perpetual smile and a heart full of love! Rescued by PK after her previous owner could no longer care for her, Sarah's joyous spirit remains unshaken. She's a dream on a leash, house trained, and responds eagerly to commands, especially when treats are involved. While she enjoys her meals a bit too much, she's ready for an owner who'll help her stay healthy. Sarah prefers male dog companions and may need a home that understands her frequent bathroom needs due to an enlarged liver. Could you be the one to offer Sarah a fur-ever home, or know someone who could?

Bethlehem to Adjust Leisure Fees: What You Need to Know   🏊‍♀️⛸️

Facing rising operational costs and difficulties in recruiting staff, Bethlehem may adjust fees for its municipal pools and ice rink for the first time in four to five years. The proposed changes, aimed at covering the increased costs of materials and labor, include a $1 increase in entry fees for pools and similar adjustments for the ice rink. Season passes are also expected to see a price increase, though senior rates will remain unchanged. The city's Finance Committee will review these proposals, with a decision to be made by the full council.

The Answer to “Did You Know” Trivia:

A) 1879

FYI: Presidents' Day was first celebrated as a federal holiday in 1879. Initially, it was established to honor George Washington, the first President of the United States. The holiday was celebrated on Washington's actual birthday, February 22nd. It was first celebrated only in the District of Columbia, but it expanded to the whole country in 1885. The shift to the third Monday in February occurred much later, in 1971, due to the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, to provide uniform annual observances of certain legal public holidays on Mondays.
